Dr Gaëlle Ramon
Research Development Coordinator.
PhD (2005) University of Claude Bernard Lyon I (France). Research Development Coordinator, University of Cape Town (2009 - present).
Gaëlle graduated her PhD in 2005 from the University of Claude Bernard Lyon I (France). Although a French degree, all her PhD work was carried out at the University of Cape Town under Prof Nassimbeni’s supervision. Her thesis entitled "Inclusion compounds: Macroproperties from Structures" involved the study of organic inclusion compounds. The intention was to link the macroproperties of the materials to what was observed on the molecular level. With view to better understand rules directing Crystal Engineering, Gaëlle developed her interests on related topics during her Post-Doctoral years at UCT and later on as a Lecturer at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
In July 2009, Gaëlle returned to UCT as a Research Development Coordinator at the Research Office. In 2010, she became an NRF rated Researcher. Although based at the Research Office, Gaëlle remains involved with her own discipline and is affiliated to the Centre for Supramolecular Chemistry Research, where she is currently co-supervisor to Gift Mehlana (PhD) and Savannah Zacharias (PhD). Their projects investigate the synthesis of Novel Metal Organic frameworks and their properties.
