We congratulate Mr. Terence Noonan who graduated PhD in December 2018, under the supervision of Prof. Mino Caira and Prof. Susan Bourne. The title of his thesis being "Preformulation solid-state supramolecular beneficiation of selected active pharmaceutical ingredients and a novel drug candidate".
We congratulate Ms. Nicola Dare who graduated PhD under the co-supervision of Prof. Susan Bourne. The title of her thesis is "Using metal-organic frameworks to investigate the interaction of ferrihaem with antimalarials".
We congratulate Mr. Alexios Vicatos, who graduated MSc under the supervision of Prof. Mino Caira. His thesis title is "Preparation and characterisation of multi-component systems in drug formulation".
We congratulate Mr. Andrea Sala, who graduated MSc under the supervision of Prof. Mino Caira and Prof. Alessia Bacchi from the University of Parma. His thesis title is "Supramolecular derivatisation of bioactive molecules via co-crystallization and cyclodextrin inclusion complexation".
We congratulate Mr. Marcello Mutti, who graduated MSc under the supervision of Dr. Clive Oliver and Prof. Paolo Pelagatti from the University of Parma. His thesis title is "Crystal engineering of mixed-ligand metal-organic frameworks based on simple carboxylate and bipyridyl ligands".
We congratulate Ms. Christelle Dzesse Tekouo who successfully defended her PhD thesis in August 2018, at the University of Buea in Cameroon. Christelle spent about 18 months with the Centre, under the supervision of Prof. Susan Bourne, as a recipient of the OWSD (Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World) International postgraduate Fellowship. Photos below show Christelle with with her family (including husband Claude and daughter Victory, who was born on 18 July and delayed her mom’s defence by a week or so) and with her supervisor Dr Emmanuel Nfor.
We congratulate former PhD student, Dr Gift Mehlana who recently won a prestigious research grant for research excellence in a Green Chemistry project. This is a joint project between Phosagro, UNESCO and IUPAC. The award was presented at the 8th IUPAC International Conference on Green Chemistry in Bangkok, Thailand in September 2018. Below we see Dr. Mehlana receiving his award.
We congratulate Ms. Khadijah Dauda who graduated PhD in June 2018, under the co-supervision of Professor Mino Caira. Her thesis title being "Metal complexes of Anti-Tubercular (TB) drugs".
We congratulate Ms. Savannah Zacharias who graduated PhD in April 2018, under the supervision of Professor Susan Bourne. Her thesis title is "Chiral metal-organic frameworks".
